The minimum age is 10 years old due to the length and time involved in the rehearsal schedule. There is no age cap at the top for Special Needs participants; you can always stay and play!

Typical performers should be at least 10 years old and no older than 25 years old. If you are older than 25 years old, you must have permission from the Executive Director to be able to perform in the show.

*Laughing Feet discourages parents from performing in the show with their Special Needs children as the program is designed to be peer-to-peer driven.

*Age limits do not apply to Staff Members.

What types of special needs do you work with?

We work with all kinds. Autism, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Blind, Deaf, physical disabilities, behavior disabilities; as long as there is no danger to the participant or others involved, we are open to anyone who would like to be involved. More serious disabilities are evaluated on a case-by-case basis based on staff availability.

Do you have to be special needs to participate?

No. The partnership of regular education and special education working together and having a great time together is the magic of this program. We are always looking for regular education students who would like to participate.

Is there a cost involved to participate?

Being a non-profit, we apply for grants and do fund raising to make our performances possible.

How often do you rehearse?

A normal production will rehearse approximately 6 weeks with rehearsals on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

If you are new to Laughing Feet, you will rehearse on Monday and Tuesday nights for songs performed in Act One from 6:30 to 8:30pm.

If you have performed in more than two Laughing Feet productions, you have the option of signing up to possibly be cast in Act Two which rehearses on Thursdays from 6:30 to 8:30pm and on Saturdays from 10:00am to 3:00pm with a lunch break. The Executive Director decides who is cast in Act Two based on what the scripts call for.

Act One is all singing and dancing and Act Two is a one act musical with singing, dancing and acting.

Do I have to be a good singer and dancer to participate? Is there an audition process?

Absolutely not. These productions are all about having a good time laughing, singing and dancing. We perform to karaoke tracks and there are no auditions required to participate. In fact, most of our participants are not musically or theatrically inclined and most will tell you they have never been in a performance or production prior to being involved with our program. We are about the process, not the final product; we just happen to get a great final product due to the fun we have in the process!
